Winter Fest is Saturday downtown

Winter Fest and the annual Christmas parade will roll through downtown Linden on Saturday.  Santa will visit with children after the parade. The event is hosted by the Linden Area Chamber of Commerce.
Winners in the chamber sponsored Christmas coloring contest will ride on the chamber float. In excess of 130 participants from the Linden-Kildare schools contributed art work for judging. Christmas in the Park slated Dec. 13-14

Local outdoorsmen and women are working on their decorating ideas for a special competition. They won’t be hanging lights over their chimney, unless of course they consider a fire pit part of their home sweet home.

JAM to present 2013 Christmas program at Laws Chapel United Methodist Church

The Childrens’ Choir (JAM – Jesus And Me) of Laws Chapel United Methodist Church will present a Christmas program, this Sunday, Dec. 8 during the 11 a.m. morning worship service.

Lions Club pot stew is Friday

Linden Lions Club Pot Stew will be boiling in a big pot in front of Lions headquarters at 107 N. Main St. on Friday, Dec. 6. Lions will begin serving at 11 a.m. 
“Bring your appetite or a container and take it home,” said Bruce LeGrow.  
Boots Early is planning to drive up from Longview to oversee operations. Peach cobbler will be provided by Good Shepherd Medical Center - Linden.
Stew will be sold for dine-in or by the quart for carry-out.
All proceeds benefit the many Lions’ charities. Lions will also be collecting old eyeglasses for their recycling program.

Jacob Dude Turner Memorial Auction benefits community

More than 100 items were auctioned off at the Jacob Dude Turner Memorial Auction held on Nov. 23 at the Music City Texas Theater in Linden.

Music City Texas Theater presents Robert Earl Keen Saturday night

The leaves are turning, the air is cooler and the holidays are here. It can mean only one thing ­- Robert Earl Keen’s “Merry Christmas from the Fam-O-Lee” Show is coming to Linden.

LGC hosts fall bulb sale

Linden Garden Club members still have daffodil bulbs available for sale. This is the last week of their fall fundraiser. Organizers said this fundraiser is to help beautify the community and to help raise money for the club. Cass County 4-H takes part in healthy living programs

The 4-H Health Living Programs have partnered with the Walmart Foundation in support 4-H Youth Voice: Youth Choice to help address issues of nutrition, physical fitness, obesity and food insecurity among America’s young people. The goal is to provide promotional and educational resources for grantees to deepen their community impact.
In 2011, Walmart 4-H Youth Voice: Youth Choice Healthy Living programs were implemented through 15 grants to Cooperative Extension 4-H Programs in 14 states and Puerto Rico for programming occurring between October 2011 – September 2012.
