By Ben Woods

Mattie Brown along with her daughter Beverly Harper handed out homemade lap quilts with Christmas cards at the Linden Nursing Home on Dec. 21.
Brown is 89 but that hasn’t slowed her down since she made 37 quilts over the past nine months for the residents of the nursing home.
It was a mission project by Saint John Divine Baptist Church of Kildare,
“I had a lot of time on my hands and wanted to put it to good use” Brown said, “I worked on the quilts everyday”.
This is the third year church has given out presents to the residents of the nursing home.
The majority of the fabric used was donated by the Vivian, La thrift shop but some was donated by church members too.
