The Cass County Sun Publisher Randy Grider announced Jan 3 that Ben Woods has been promoted to news editor/advertising manager.
Woods has served as part-time office manager since June.
“Ben is well liked in the community, and I’m confident he will excel in his new role,” Grider said. “For the past few months, Ben has helped sell advertising as well as contributing occasional articles and photos. He has a great work ethic and cares about the community The Cass County Sun serves.”
Prior to joining the Sun, Woods and a partner operated a small lawn service.
Woods is a 2007 graduate of Atlanta High School and studied journalism at Texarkana College.
He also was a sales representative for Woods Furniture, Co. in Atlanta until the business was destroyed by fire in 2014.
Woods is married to Rachel Woods, who is the office manager of the Citizens Journal in Atlanta. They have three children.
