Young QC archers compete in Belton

Queen City ISD had a team of 15 students qualify to compete in the National Archery Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament in Belton March 23-24. 
These students traveled to Belton with coaches Carrie Hudson and Randy Allen and with sponsors Sharon Henderson, David Estes and Steven Holmes.  
There were 2,021 total students (4-12 grade) competing at the state level which consisted of 22 elementary teams, 34 middle school teams and 47 high school teams.  
The competition increases as the kids get older. 
The archers shoot with archers of all age groups.  
Most of the J.K. Hileman kids shot against high school and middle school competition.
The J.K. Hileman Elementary team ranked 13 out of 22, with a total shooting score of 2,579. 
A score of 2,649 would have qualified them all for the National Tournament in Louisville.  
This is quite an exceptional honor for a first-year team.
Clint Wiley was the top scorer for QC, with a 261 out of a possible 300. 
He also ranked ninth out of 270 elementary boys, which qualified him for Nationals May 12.
The following students made up the team: Brooklinn Beers, Corey Black, Kade Burden, Mason Campbell, Bailey Endsley, Aidan Hamilton, Luke Porterfield, Emily Raines, Emily Terry, Isaac Thomas, Sam Weeks, Lanee Whatley, Micah Whittington, Brayden Wiley and Clint Wiley.
