QC Baseball
Queen City’s baseball team took part in the Linden-Kildare Baseball Tournament last weekend.
In game one, the Bulldogs outlasted Waskom, 11-10.
QC was down, 10-9, in the sixth until Kyle Parker tied it with a single.
Rob Hill led Queen City by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-5 at the plate with a triple and three RBIs. 
Parker, Bradley Norton, and Hill each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs.
QC stole eight bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Ray Cook led the way with two.
In the second game, QC fell to Elysian Fields, 5-3, even though the Bulldogs out-hit the Yellowjackets 8-2.
Cook and Josue Rea each collected multiple hits for Queen City, and Parker and Hunter Fitts each drove in one run each.
Atlanta Baseball
On Feb. 24, the Atlanta baseball team traveled to Gladewater and left town with a, 5-2, hard-fought loss.
The Bears took a, 2-0, lead in the second inning before Atlanta tied things up after batting in the top of the third frame.
Gladewater scored three more runs in the fourth to seal the win.
Grant Harrell scattered four hits over three innings with five strikeouts, B.J. Hammonds pitched two innings with two hits and two Ks and Slayton Holland gave up one hit in one inning with two Ks.
Hammonds was 2-for-3 from the dish, Luke Anthony was 1-for-1 with a double and Layton Henson was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

QC Softball
Queen City’s softball team competed in the Marshall Tournament on Feb. 23-25.
In game one, the Lady Bulldogs obliterated 5A power John Tyler, 18-0, in three innings behind a shutout performance by pitcher Brooklyn Sykes.
QC took a, 4-0, lead into the second inning where they blew the gate off of the fence by putting 14 runs on the scoreboard.
Sykes struck out six batters in three innings of play.
Maci Stringer and Kenadi Meador went 3-for-3 with three ribbies each, Emily Maxwell was 3-for-3 with five RBIs, Cori Lang was 2-for-3 with a ribeye, Jacie Lance was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Jayley Stringer was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
In game two, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind, 4-1, but a 13-run second inning notched a, 14-4, win in three innings over New Diana.
Maci Stringer went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, Meador was 2-for-3 with one RBI, Jayley Stringer had an RBI single, Maxwell had a hit and the Lady Bulldogs received 2-RBI contributions from Lance, Lang and Tiera Johnson. Lang scattered five hits over three innings with two Ks.
In game three, the Lady Bulldogs took their first loss of the season as they dropped a, 6-5, decision in 12 innings to Pine Tree.
The score was, 0-0, going into the ninth inning but both teams put up one run apiece in that inning to extend the game.
QC took a 5-4 lead into the 12th but the Lady Pirates scored two runs and ended the contest by keeping the Lady Bulldogs from scoring in the bottom half.
Jayley Stringer hit two triples and had an RBI, Cori Lang had a couple of hits with an RBI, Lance and Maci Stringer added one hit each with an RBI and Sykes and Johnson contributed one hit each.
Marlee Durmon went the distance for 12 innings with five hits given up and three strikeouts.
In their next game QC topped West Rusk, 5-2.
The Lady Bulldogs were in control from the beginning as they jumped out to a, 4-0, lead after three innings before West Rusk put two runs on the board.
On the final day of the tourney QC started out with a, 15-2, win over Maud in four innings of play.
QC took, 2-0, lead before Maud tied it in the second inning. The Lady Bulldogs put 13 more runs on the board in the next two innings forcing officials to call the game on the mercy rule.
Sykes and Durmon both pitched two innings each with both only giving up one hit each, no earned runs and three Ks apiece.
Jayley Stringer was 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs, Durmon was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, Maci Stringer was 3-for-4 with three ribbies, Emiy Maxwell added a copule of hits, Lance was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Meador and Sykes added singles and Johnson had a 2-RBI triple.
In their final game QC beat Avery, 11-2, in four innings.
Avery scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first, but QC put up seven runs in the bottom half of the first frame and scored two runs each in both the second and third innings  to seal the win.
Durmon and freshman Kaci Thomas pitched two innings each with only one hit given up apiece and three combined Ks.
Meador and Sykes were both 3-for-3 from the plate, Jayley Stringer was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, Thomas had a 2-RBI triple, and QC received single hit contributions from Jayce Calloway, Macey Belote, Lexee Whatley, Maci Stringer, Durmon and Lang.
RBI contributors were, Sykes – 2, Lang – 2, Maci Stringer – 2, Durmon – 1 and Whatley – 1.
