AHS sophomore makes All-State Band

From Staff Reports

Josiah Henderson, a 10-grade student at Atlanta High School, has qualified for the 4A Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB)All-State Band.
This is a huge honor which is earned by only the most elite musicians in the state of Texas. Approximately 2,000 percussionists from across the state of Texas started the audition process and only 20 are selected for the All-State Band.
Of the 20, Henderson is one of only four sophomores who qualified. Henderson is a squad leader in the AHS Band and a member of the AHS Drumline.
According to Assistant Band Director and Percussion Coordinator Danny Hawkins, Henderson consistently demonstrates the highest standards of musicianship, practice, and dedication.
“He exceeds expectations on a daily basis and challenges himself to make the impossible possible. His hard work and commitment to excellence will set the standard for others to follow for years to come.
“We are so proud to have Josiah represent the AHS Band in San Antonio this year,” Hawkins stated.
Henderson will travel to the TMEA All-State Band Clinic and Performance in San Antonio from Feb. 8-11.
