CHRISTUS names new director of nursing

From Staff Reports

William Micah Johnson has been named as director of nursing for CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta. Johnson fills the position formerly held by Debbie Robison, who retired at the end of December 2016.
A graduate of Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock, Ark., Johnson holds a BSN from Arkansas Tech University and an MSN from Texas A&M University-Texarkana with an emphasis in health care administration. He brings 14 years of nursing experience as well as a solid knowledge of the CHRISTUS Health ministry to the table.
Johnson has worked in and led nursing units across a wide variety of settings and organizations to include emergency departments, intensive care units, operating rooms, cardiac cath labs, and medical units in large urban facilities, small rural hospitals, and specialty hospitals. His most recent position was manager of the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System Intensive Care Units in Texarkana, and he has gained considerable clinical experience at Arkansas Heart Hospital and Trinity Mother Frances (Now CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System) in the roles of staff nurse, charge nurse, supervisor, and assistant director as well.
“Micah’s ‘can-do’ attitude, focus on nursing excellence, ability to ‘see the big picture’ and his friendly demeanor make him an excellent fit for our work family here in Atlanta,” said Thomas McKinney, CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta administrator. “His demonstrated leadership skills will prove invaluable as he works with the hospital’s staff to continue to enhance the delivery of health care for the citizens in the Atlanta area.
“As we welcome Micah to his new position, we must also recognize Debbie Robison, who has dedicated 40 years of exemplary service to health care in our region,” McKinney added. “Her vision and ability to help position CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta for the future have been extremely important on our journey to expand health care services for Cass County residents. She has been instrumental in helping the hospital to achieve special designations such as Level IV Trauma Center and a Level III Support Stroke Facility. We owe Debbie immense gratitude for her service to our community and to this facility.”
