Tigers and Lady Tigers face basketball foes

On Dec. 16, Linden-Kildare opened district play against Clarksville in a battle of Lady Tigers. L-K was ahead the whole first half but Clarksville’s towering posts were tough to handle down the stretch as the other Lady Tigers came out on top, 56-45. Siarra Johnson was the top scorer with 15 points followed by Skylar Vaughn with 10. 
Stormie Littlejohn put up eight points, Haley Palmer added six and both Jaimya Gaston and Peyton Turner contributed three points each. 
The team is really learning how to work together and Siarra and Skylar have great picks/steals as they have learned to work together down the court,” Head Coach Lauren Foster said. “The ladies are a little down after a tough loss, but they are also ready to get back to work and make more improvements.” 
On Dec. 20, the Lady Tigers made the long trek out to Detroit for their second district game, and left town with a 47-37 loss.  Between illness and injuries, L-K only had seven semi-healthy girls playing in a game where some received no breaks at all.
In the first half of the game the Lady Tigers gave the Lady Eagles a run for their money, with the score at half being, 20-19, in favor of Detroit. 
With a low number of players finding time to recuperate and boost stamina throughout an entire game with no subs was tough. Siarra Johnson, Stormie Littlejohn, and Jaimya Gaston each scored 10 points. 
On Dec. 20, Linden-Kildare’s varsity boys’ basketball team took on Atlanta in the second meeting of the season between the two schools.
The Tigers routed the Rabbits, 62-49, behind a 22-point barrage from Ja’Kevian Rose. Rose made six treys in the contest. LaDavion Johnson was close behind with 20 points and Cortez Peterson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 
The JV team took a, 56-31, loss to the Rabbs. 
Davion “Red” Tyson led all scorers with 18 points.
The win puts the Tigers’ record at 10-3 on the season, and L-K will open district play on Dec. 30, against Rivercrest.
