Raffle, chili supper benefits local FFAs

CASS COUNTY—Local Ag departments will get an early Christmas present thanks to an effort coordinated by Queen City Pawn.
Recently the pawn shop held its annual firearm raffle to raise money for the departments. Gina Runnels, with Queen City Pawn, said they sold 1,000 tickets (at $50 each) in the raffle and that 50 lucky winners will walk away with a new rifle or shotgun.
The firearms range in value from $210 for the Escort Home Defense Black to the grand prize, a Henry Golden Boy Deluxe, valued at $1,925.
She said that the raffle will generate $5,000 for departments at Queen City, McLeod, Linden-Kildare, Bloomburg and Hughes Springs ISDs.
Runnels said they are adding something new to the fundraiser this year—a chili supper. On Dec. 13 a chili supper will be held at the Cattleman’s Expo Center on Hwy. 59 North, starting at 6:30 p.m. Bowls of chili will be sold on donation basis. The highlight of the evening will be the drawing for the firearms, Runnels added.
