Queen City
On Sept. 6, Queen City’s varsity volleyball team defeated Maud in four sets.
Jessica Jones recorded seven kills and three blocks; Cori Lang added nine digs and four aces; and Maci Stringer had 22 assists.
The junior varsity squad topped Maud in two sets by scores of, 25-8 and 25-5. Payton Beckham scored 12 points, Kailee Stringer 11 and Marlee Durmon eight.
On Sept. 9, QC outscored Redwater 3-1 in their first district match.
Jessica Jones had 13 kills, Mackenzie Hozdic added nine kills and 17 digs and teammate Maci Stringer posted 21 assists.
The Lady Bulldog junior high teams hosted Redwater, with both the seventh and eighth grade teams bringing home their second district win.
The seventh grade squad defeated Redwater 25-20 during the first set and demolished them in the second 25-8. The high server for the seventh grade was Jade Whitehorn with a total of 10 serving points.
The eighth grade won also with Claire Bates serving up 18 service points.
Atlanta
The Lady Rabbs also had a bout with Maud on Sept. 2, and came away with a four set victory.
Atlanta took the first and second sets before Maud won set three.
The Lady Rabbits closed the door in the fourth set with a, 25-19, victory.
Service point’s leaders were, Sheveonia Smith and Amanda Whatley with 20 each; Whatley led with five aces; Alecia Garcia had seven digs; TeShuna Sheppard four blocks and Avery Trotter had eight kills and 11 assists.
On Sept. 8, the Lady Rabbs went 1-2 in the Mt. Vernon Tournament.
Atlanta beat Pittsburg then lost to Paul Pewitt and host Mt. Vernon.
On Sept. 10, Atlanta took part in the second half of the Mt. Vernon Tournament and ended up as the Silver Bracket champs with sweeping wins over foes Como-Pickton and Pittsburg.
The Lady Rabbs have won seven of their last 10 matches.
