From Staff Reports
LINDEN - A complete course in hunter education has been scheduled for Sept. 19 and 20 (Monday and Tuesday nights) from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The class will be held at the C.J. Hagler-Squire Cole Agriculture Science Bldg. at Linden-Kildare High School, according to Charles Snowden, hunter education instructor. The school is located about four miles east of Linden on Texas Highway 125.
“The course is open to adults and youngsters and will include instruction in rifle, shotgun and bow hunting handling and safety, outdoor ethics, laws and regulations, conservation, hunting traditions, wildlife identification, field care of game, wilderness first aid and survival,” said Snowden.
Every Texas hunter born on or after Sept. 2, 1971 must have successfully completed a hunter education course to legally hunt. Residents of other states may take this class to fulfill the requirements for their home states.
Those students nine years of age or older upon completing the course will be issued a certification card from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The course fee is $15 per student to cover registration and materials. Each student must bring their money, social security number and a pencil the first night. This course is also good in other states requiring mandatory hunter education and any individual may take the course on a voluntary basis.
