Journal announces change of frequency

From Staff Reports

Beginning with this edition the Citizens Journal will begin publishing weekly with delivery on Wednesdays only.
In the 137-year history of the newspaper, it has published as a weekly before but most recently as a semi-weekly publication.
Throughout the years, the Journal has chronicled the people, communities and news of our area and will continue this tradition of local coverage.
The Journal will publish elements of both previous semi-weekly editions plus new additions to regular content for readers. The hometown newspaper will continue to offer local news of Atlanta, Queen City and the surrounding Cass County communities.
As always the newspaper staff will include coverage of Atlanta, Queen City, Bloomburg, McLeod and other school districts’ events and happenings, both academic and extra-curricular.
Multiple factors culminated in the decision after careful consideration was applied to each over an extended period of time. The new-look weekly newspaper, casscountynow.com website and new niche and digital offerings will now bring readers even more local news and features than before.
Advertisers will also have new options to reach potential customers through one or more of these platforms.
“I do know how hard our staff members work to publish the best community newspaper possible, and we all want the communities we serve to be as proud of us and their hometown newspaper as we are of them,” Publisher Randy Grider said. “I believe that by being a stronger weekly newspaper, we can concentrate our efforts and put out a better newspaper going forward.”
The Journal will continue its membership with Texas Press Association and other press organizations, Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce and staff members will continue to support and belong to local civic clubs, organizations and institutions.
The newspaper, serving this area since 1879, will also continue to serve as the newspaper of record for the City of Atlanta, City of Queen City, Queen City ISD, Atlanta ISD as well as other taxing and governmental entities in its coverage area.
