Harris wins GC Steer honors

ATLANTA—In an ex­tremely competitive field of FFA and 4-H members Kinley Harris, of the Linden-Kildare FFA, was awarded Grand Champion at this year’s Cass County Cat­tleman’s Association Spring Show and Sale.

The show and sale was held April 2 at the Cass County Exposition Building in Atlanta.

Taking the Reserve Champion honor was Hunter Lance of the McLeod FFA. Lance also won the Glenn Traylor Award for the highest placing county-bred steer. Rounding out the top three was Joshua Whatley, from the Hope 4-H Club.

Stormy Johnson’s steer tipped the scale at 1,410 pounds, win­ning the award for high­est weight gain. The McLeod FFA member placed fourth overall.

Also placing at the show were: Kirstie Whatley, Hope 4-H, 5th; Joyce Rhinehart Lit­tlejohn, L-K FFA, 6th; Brook Jester, McLeod FFA, 7th; Katy Hull, Hughes Springs FFA, 8th; Zachary Prince, Mc­Leod FFA, 9th; Brandi Duck, Hughes Springs FFA, 10th; Reagan John­son, McLeod FFA, 11th; Cambree Kerr, L-K FFA, 12th and Mason John­son, L-K FFA, 13th.

The highest bidder of the evening of the night was Mary Scuddy, who offered $5 per pound for Duck’s steer.

Linda Ballad was rec­ognized as the high bid­der for homemade dish­es and desserts.
