Cothren looks ahead to 5th term serving Pct. 3

Incumbent Paul Cothren won his bid for reelection as Pct. 3 Commissioner over opponent M. James Brooks IV with a margin of 219 votes or 59.68 percent. 
He will swear in for his fifth term in January at the Cass County Commissioners Court. 
Cothren says he is simply grateful for the opportunity to once again serve as Pct. 3 Commissioner. He also knows this next term will include some tough, but important obstacles for, not only his precinct, but the county as a whole. 
Looking back to that first term as commissioner, Cothren remembers his first election in 2001 when he ran against Lupton Willis, Kevin Clements and Dan Thomas. They were “All good gentlemen,” Cothren remembers. 
Cothren said he is currently working on completing and closing out work and funding from the county’s FEMA disaster of 2015. 
“As soon as I’m able to mix the road oil, when it is 70 degrees at night, I will close out that FEMA program...
