Girl Scout cookies sales begin Feb. 13

From Staff Reports
CASS COUNTY-- Girl Scouts in the Linden/Hughes Springs area will be ringing in the New Year by putting their entrepreneurial and leadership skills to work through the Girl Scout Cookie Program.  Girls will begin taking orders for the iconic cookies on Feb.13.  Orders will be delivered to customers about April 1.
Extra cookies will be available at this time for those who miss ordering.
The cost of the cookies will be $4 per box, with proceeds supporting local Girl Scout troops and programs for the girls.
There are eight flavors to choose from:  Do-si-Dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Trefoils, and Savannah Smiles, and a gluten free cookie, Toffee-tastic, giving cookie lovers everywhere a great selection to choose from in feeding that sweet tooth.  The Toffee-tastic is $5 per box and will only be available during booth sales in limited quantities.  As in previous years, Girl Scout cookies remain trans-fat free.
Girls from local troops will be able to sell Girl Scout Cookies to customers through a national Digital Cookie platform. The revolutionary addition to the Girl Scout Cookie Program will enhance and expand the program’s ability to teach girls new skills for business and life.  It will strengthen the essential ‘5 Skills’ girls learn in the traditional cookie program, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the world.  With their Girl Scout Cookie Program earnings, girls fund important community projects on a local level, and work together as a team to make a real impact in their communities.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program has long been a cherished tradition for girls and volunteers.  As early as the 1930s, Girl Scouts were selling commercially-baked cookies in that now-famous Trefoil shape.  And for individuals who are not cookie fans, or perhaps watching their waistlines, there is the Gift of Caring Program that provides customers the opportunity to purchase Girl Scout Cookies that will be donated to either military troops or to The Linden United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
For more information on purchasing cookies, contact the local Cookie Co-Chairs Sue Snowden at 903-756-7172 or 903-824-7691 or Desiree McDuffie at 903-748-3813.
