Douglassville couple killed in accident

A Douglassville couple was killed and a four-year old girl is fighting for her life following a motor vehicle collision on Highway 59 South on Nov. 19.
A Texas Department of Public Service (TxDPS) spokesman said James Clark, of New Orleans, was traveling southbound on Highway 59 around 7:30 a.m. in a 2016 Peterbilt 18-wheeler, when a 2007 Saturn pulled onto Hwy. 59 from FM 2328, into the path of the truck.
Marvin Hodges, the driver of the Saturn, and Jeanette Hodges sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The couple’s four-year old granddaughter sustained serious injuries. The DPS says that the child was first taken to Christus St. Michael and then sent by helicopter by Children’s Hospital in Little Rock where she remains in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Neither Clark, nor his passenger Patrick Powell, were injured in the crash.
The DPS said that they do not believe weather was a contributing factor in the accident.
