‘Compassionate Christ’ unveiled at hospital

The sky broke into sunlight in a timely fashion as CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital Atlanta unveiled their new Compassionate Christ Sculptural Relief Monday afternoon. 
The work of art is now on display at the corner of State Hwy. 77 and S. Williams Street in Atlanta, the corner of the hospital’s large property. 
Artist Kevin Kresse was on hand at the dedication and admittedly told Hospital Administrator Thomas McKinney that completing the sculpture was like creating “art on stage” as traffic never ceases at the intersection. 
Kresse, who has a long list of artistic credits to his name, hails from Little Rock, Ark. 
He has reportedly had his works exhibited in New York, Washington D.C., Memphis, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga. and various galleries and institutions around the state of Arkansas. Kresse has also been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts - Mid-America Arts Alliance and the Arkansas Arts Council. He has won several awards on the Arkansas Arts Center annual Delta Competition and was named the 2015 Individual Artist for Arkansas from the Governor’s Art Award. 
Kresse created the bust of Win Paul Rockefeller in the Arkansas State Capitol and the bust of writer Dee Brown for the Central Arkansas Library System...
