What is needed of a volunteer? A concern for your fellow man and the intent to help where needed. A loving spirit that makes the people recognize the love and care they have for them.
Tonja Kurr is a volunteer at the Linden nursing home. She is soft spoken, loving person who is devoted to anyone she is working with.
She is a hugger. When you get a hug from Tonja, you’ve been hugged. She knows the residents by name and loves giving assistance. She, by nature, has a good heart. Tonja helps with the Country Store at the nursing home with Judy Ward. She has worked there for six to seven years. In the past, she has helped with birthdays and always helps with Christmas decorating.
She works regularly on a monthly basis.
She grew up in the Center Grove community and attended Linden schools. She is a member of the Center Grove Baptist Church and always helps with socials and assists in the care of the church. Everyone is greeted with a smile as she welcomes you.
She has been a member of the Kildare Garden Group for 15 years and participates in programs and projects. Her favorite flower is the Christmas cactus and loves gospel and country music.
Tonja is a good role model for volunteers because she is the epitome of kindness and love for her fellow man. Judy Ward stated that Tonja helps the residents to the Country Store and is willing to help anyone. She is a sweetheart, stated Judy.
