Runnels discusses benefits of alcohol sales in Queen City

A Queen City business owner addressed the city council in its Jan. 9 meeting about the possible benefits of having package liquor sales in the city.
James Runnels, owner of Queen City Pawn, presented the council members with a map depicting where alcohol sales are in the area.
“I feel like we are losing tax money that the city could use,” he told the council. “Why let that money go to these other areas.”
He said he wanted to mention it to the council because it was “something to think about that could benefit us.”
Correction: The name of Queen City Pawn owner James Runnels was incorrectly printed in our Jan. 15 edition of the Citizens Journal as Fincher. We regret this error.
