Atlanta’s varsity boys’ basketball squad traveled to Grand Saline for a three day tourney that began on Dec. 5.
In game one the Rabbs were matched up with Frankston and fell behind 25-8 after one quarter of play.
Atlanta traded basket for basket with the Indians the rest of the way but the opening quarter kept the Rabbits from making a solid comeback and Atlanta fell 81-63.
Nigel Johnson dropped 23 points with three 3-pointers and teammate Aaron Berry tossed in 12 points of his own.
Jeffrey Thomas also added eight points for the Rabbs and Trevor Carroll seven.
In game two Atlanta took out their frustration on Lighthouse Christian by blowing the Lions out of the gym 109-39.
The Rabbits eclipsed the 100-point mark behind strong scoring from Berry, Johnson, Eddrick King, Leevester Cook and Shannon Jones.
The 70-point blowout was due to Atlanta’s 18 3-pointers; five of those by Berry who ended the contest with 23 points.
King added 20 points with four 3-pointers recorded and Cook made four 3-pointers as part of his 18 points scored.
Johnson tossed in 17 points and Jones tallied 14 for the Rabbs.
