Brutal murder between siblings

No bond for Stone on capital murder charge

The Cass County Sheriff Office is not releasing information regarding any motive in a murder that took place yesterday, Tuesday, July 5. 

The suspect in this case will not be released on bond for the capital murder charge. He has an additional bond of $75,000 for aggravated assault with injuries and a prior parole hold. 

A woman's body was located in a barn on CR 2113. The altercation that preceded was reportedly between two siblings. 

Just before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about an assault in progress on CR 2116. Before deputies arrived on scene, 59 year-old Jima Anthony Stone reportedly assaulted his sister, 60 year-old Deborah Steed and another female friend. 

The friend left the house and went to a neighbor's house to call police.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were reportedly informed that the suspect, Jima Stone, had knocked his sister out and threw her in the back of his truck.

Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and other law enforcement agencies saturated the area. Around 4 p.m. Tuesday Sheriff's Deputies found Jima Stone at an abandoned house on County Road 2113. After locating Jima Stone, other deputies arrived on scene and found Deborah Steed's body in a barn on the same property a couple hundred yards away from Jima Stone.

Jima Stone was arrested and placed in the Cass County Jail. He is being charged with Capital Murder and Aggravated Assault with injuries.
