Scholars, educators recognized at AEF gala

The Atlanta ISD Education Foundation last week presented its annual gala recognizing distinguished scholars of the Class of 2017, along with educators chosen by the students for having been especially influential and inspirational.
The gala -- “A Night with the Academic Stars” -- gave the scholars and their teachers a chance to walk the red carpet, literally, then later take the stage and speak to the crowd gathered for the event. The gala was held at Atlanta Middle School.
Those honored included scholar Taylor Barnes, valedictorian, whose distinguished educator was Susan Greig; scholar Mary Katie Tigert, salutatorian, whose distinguished educator was Kristen McCasland; scholar Hannah Seavey, whose distinguished educator was Alisa Morris; scholar Josiah Seth Mendoza, whose distinguished educator was Larry Breashears; scholar Wendy Medina, whose distinguished educator was Kimberly Charleston; scholar William Cody Hipp, whose distinguished educator was Elaine Johnson; scholar Vanessa Starr Davis, whose distinguished educator was Dave Allen; scholar Brock Childress, whose distinguished educator was Jarrod Boston; scholar Emily Primrose, whose distinguished educator was Kara Gennings; scholar Savannah Riddell, whose distinguished educator was Sandy Horne; scholar Grant Harrell, whose distinguished educator was Craig Fant; scholar Lauren Avery Trotter, whose distinguished educator was Charlotte Snow; scholar Angelique Angel Daniels, whose distinguished educator was Keith Sanders; and scholar Victoria Bergt, whose distinguished scholar was Tobie Dunlap.
