A Queen City man has been arrested in connection with an April 12 crash on U.S. Highway 59 in Bowie County that left a woman dead and injured a man.
Tyler Reed Pate, 23, was arrested last week and charged with intoxication assault, according to Texas Department of Public Safety reports.
DPS troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash 5.5 miles southwest of Texarkana at approximately 10:38 p.m. on April 12.
A preliminary investigation indicated a Ford Fusion driven by Pate was traveling southwest on U.S. 59 in the left lane and struck a Toyota Avalon traveling in the right lane.
The Avalon, after being struck on the driver’s side, spun into the center median where it rolled twice, ejecting the passenger.
The passenger, Edna Morgan, 53, of Jacksonville was transported to Wadley Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the Avalon, Perry Morgan, 57, of Jacksonville was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital in serious condition.
Pate and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional information was provided.
