Texas Scholars recognized during luncheon
From Staff reports
Atlanta High School last week honored its 2017 Texas Scholars.
The event took place during a luncheon at Luigi’s in downtown Atlanta, at which the 55 seniors who have or will complete at least six college credit hours -- with at least a 3.0 grade point average -- were recognized.
Most students have completed more than the required hours to earn the Texas Scholar medals they will proudly wear over their robes at graduation.
Zoe Allen received recognition for completing 32 college hours. Brock Childress and Andrew Hammonds will complete 29 hours.
Victoria Bergt and Audria Stovall will complete 27 college hours. Tanner Ashmore and Cody Hipp will complete 26 hours. Taylor Barnes, Brooke Baugus, Jennifer Bridges, Davis Flint, Grant Harrell, Layton Henson and Mary Katie Tigert were recognized for completing 24 college hours.
AHS offers a total of 38 college credit hours to students through a partnership with Texarkana College with more credit-hour offerings possible in the near future, according to district officials.
