Atlanta Baseball

Atlanta fell to Liberty-Eylau, 10-3, March 23. 
Both Layton Henson and Nick Hale were 2-for-4; Jose Arredondo and Max Ebarb were 1-for-4; Lule Anthony was 2-for-3, Zee Barfoot was 1-for-1; Christian Oliver plated a run and Davis Flint added two RBIs.
The Rabbs next played North Lamar March 23, and fell by a whisker, 2-1. The game was a true pitcher’s duel as Jake Thompson pitched seven innings with three scattered hits and seven strikeouts.
His counterpart also pitched seven innings with three hits and nine Ks.
With the Panthers ahead entering the seventh inning, Atlanta scored its lone run and had a chance to tie the game or win it all, but the rally ended with two runners on base. Arredondo was 1-for-3 with a triple, Ebarb was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and Andy Samples was 1-for-2.
Atlanta traveled to Paris March 31, and beat the Wildcats, 6-1. The game was close for four innings as the Rabbs took a, 2-1, lead into the fifth.
Atlanta scored four runs in the next two innings to cushion its lead. Arredondo picked up the “W” as he gave up six hits over six innings with three Ks. Hunter Allen pitched an inning of relief.
Henson was 2-for-3 with a double; Arredondo brought in three runs; Hale was 2-for-4; both B.J. Hammonds and Thompson went 1-for-4 and Oliver and Kade Woos added singles.

QC Baseball

Easton Fincher didn’t allow a single run as the Queen City Bulldogs defeated Daingerfield, 7-0, March 26. Fincher allowed just two hits in the contest with five strikeouts. Hunter Fitts led Queen City (11-3, 3-1) from the dish by going 3-for-3 and driving in five runs. Fitts drove in runs on a triple in the second and a double in the fifth. 
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fifth inning. Kade Brooks and Josue Rea also recorded multiple hits in the game. 
The Bulldogs crushed Pewitt, 16-3, in five innings in a district game March 28. 
The game was tied at three until the top of the third when Kyle Parker doubled, driving in one run. Queen City earned the victory despite allowing Paul Pewitt to score three runs in the first inning. 
The Bulldogs (12-3, 4-1) took the lead for good in the third inning. 
In the third Jaeger Jaynes doubled, driving in one run; Rob Hill drove in a couple of runs; Parker doubled in a run; Jordan Wiley brought in a run and four runs crossed the plate on three errors and a wild pitch.
Josue Rea earned the win after tossing five innings, allowing three runs, four hits, striking out seven, and walking one. 
Queen City picked up a big win March 31, after topping New Boston, 4-3. 
The Bulldogs trailed, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning until an error brought in the tying run. Rea ended up scoring the winning run from third base. Ray Cook earned the win for Queen City (13-3, 5-1) as he tossed three innings, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, and striking out three. 
Hill started the game for the Bulldogs. 
He went four innings, giving up three runs, six hits and striking out six. Wiley, Hill, and Kyle Parker each collected one hit in the contest.

QC Softball

The Lady Bulldogs played a short game March 24, as they blanked Daingerfield, 11-0, in five innings.
Queen City scored seven runs in the first inning and four more over the next three innings.
Marlee Durmon picthed a 2-hit shutout with four strikeouts. Durmon was also 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Maci Stringer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs; Brooklyn Sykes was 2-for-4; Macey Belote went 2-for-3 with three ribbies and a triple; Kenadi Meador hit an RBI double; Jacie Lance was 1-for-2 and the Lady Bulldogs received RBI contributions from Jayley Stringer, Cori Lang and Emily Maxwell.
QC lost to Paul Pewitt, 9-8, March 28, in a wild game.
The Lady Bulldogs had a slight, 8-7, lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Pewitt was able to plate two runs and win the game.
Maci Stringer was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a triple; Jacie Lance hit an inside the park homerun on a bunt and plated three runs; Durmon was 3-for-4; Jayley Sringer was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and the Lady Bulldogs received singles from Lang, Sykes and Maxwell.
Following that tough loss to Pewitt, QC picked up a big, 2-0, win over New Boston behind a 2-hit shutout pitching performance by Durmon.
Durmon pitched all seven innings and fanned six batters in the contest. She also had the lone hit for QC in the game.
