Awards handed out during ‘A Star-Studded Evening’ in Atlanta

From staff reports

“A Star-Studded Evening” was the theme for this year’s Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce awards banquet, which took place Saturday evening at Atlanta Middle School.
Awards were presented in the categories of Business of the Year, Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Educator of the Year and Youth of the Year.
In keeping with tradition, the names of the award winners were kept under wraps until the evening of the banquet.
Taking home the Business of the Year honor was CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta.
Among comments that were made during presentation of the award: “Without this business, many of our residents would be forced to travel, either to work or to find the services they need. This business has invested heavily in their local facilities and in giving back to the community.
“This business often sponsors community enrichment events and even hosts several free events each year.”
Man of the Year was Tom Granberry, and Woman of the Year was Melissa Kimble. Bonita Brown was named Educator of the year, and Starr Davis was Youth of the Year.
