AEF to host “Blue Jeans & Bling”
By Lee Ellen Benjamin
There are still tickets left for the Atlanta Education Foundation (AEF) gala event Blue Jeans & Bling to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Indian Hills Country Club in Atlanta, Saturday, Feb. 25.
You have the option of leaning more towards the “denim,” or going all out on the “diamond” side and playing up the glitz. Wear your best jeans, boots and hats and get ready for an exciting evening, which will include music by DJ Wes Spicher and a live auction hosted by the ever-entertaining professional auctioneer Shelby Crump.
Some of the treasures that will be up for bid include a maroon Kate Spade purse donated by a friend of the foundation, a game camera donated by Tractor Supply Company, a Seiko clock donated by Ray Harp Diamond Jewelers, two tickets to see “Phantom of the Opera” in Little Rock, four tickets to see Miranda Lambert in Shreveport, three wildflower prints from Robert Nasits, a sterling silver Tiffany charm and two season tickets to the 2017 Atlanta Rabbits Football Season including a parking pass.
This year a new prize is up for bid: a fabulous 5-day, 4-night stay in Gulf Shores, Ala. The house is on the bay side and includes 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The house can be viewed at www.vrbo.com/705937. The raffle tickets for the vacation are $25 each or five for $100. These tickets are on sale now at the Atlanta Independent School District Administration (AISD) office at 106 W. Main Street in downtown Atlanta.
Thanks to generous donors, the AEF has been able to distribute nearly $85,000 to fund deserving programs throughout the AISD.
In addition to the teacher grants, the AEF hosts the annual “Walk the Red Carpet” for the top 10 percent of the graduating class of Atlanta High School. Also, in partnership with the Atlanta Alumni Association, the AEF sponsors the Outstanding Alumni Awards, which are given annually at AHS Homecoming.
Tickets for the festivities are $100 each and are tax deductible. They can be purchased from any member of the AEF Board of Directors, or at the AISD Administration office. For more information, or to make a donation to the foundation, call 903-796-4194.
