The Atlanta Education Foundation (AEF) will host the fifth annual Blue Jeans & Bling at 6:30 p.m. at the Indian Hills Country Club in Atlanta, on Feb. 25.
The event is a fundraiser to support teacher grants and scholarships.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, the AEF has been able to distribute nearly $85,000 to fund deserving programs throughout the Atlanta ISD. In addition to the teacher grants, the foundation hosts the annual “Walk the Red Carpet” for the top 10 percent of the graduating class of AHS.
Also, in partnership with the Atlanta Alumni Association, the AEF sponsors the Outstanding Alumni Awards, which are presented annually at AHS Homecoming.
Dress for Blue Jeans & Bling is casual with a touch of glitz. Wear your best jeans, boots and hats and get ready for an exciting evening, which will include music by DJ Wes Spicher of Texarkana and a live auction, hosted by professional auctioneer Shelby Crump.
Some of the treasures that will be up for bid include a maroon Kate Spade purse, a game camera donated by Tractor Supply, a Seiko clock donated by Ray Harp Diamond Jewelers, two tickets to see “Phantom of the Opera” in Little Rock, four tickets to see Miranda Lambert in Shreveport and two season tickets to the 2017 Atlanta Rabbits football season, including a parking pass.
This year a new prize is up for bid. A five-day, four-night trip to Gulf Shores, Ala.
The house is on the bay side and includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house can be viewed at www.vrbo.com/705937. The raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100. These tickets are on sale now at the Atlanta Independent School District Administration (AISD) office at at 106 W. Main in downtown Atlanta.
Tickets for the festivities are $100 each and are tax deductible. They can be purchased from any member of the AEF Board of Directors, or at the AISD Administration office.
