Main Street Advisory board holds first meeting

The Main Street Advisory Board met for the first time on Jan. 12. 
The Main Street manager Allie Anderson was unable to attend so City Administrator Bob Swisher acted as the interim manager.  
During the first part of the meeting each of the members stood and introduced themselves because many members did not know each other. 
Swisher spoke about the program and said, “We want absolute transparency” also that he would like “a dynamic start to the Main Street program”. 
He also spoke of Anderson and said, 
“She has seen what it has done in her town and has a big heart for the program”. 
The advisory board nominated members and voted on the positions of chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer.
Jo Anna Duncan was nominated and elected as chair of the advisory board. 
Larry Love was nominated and elected as vice chair of the board. 
Catherine Knapp was nominated and elected as secretary. 
Pat Rountree was nominated and elected as treasurer. 
The board also discussed who would like to serve on what committees. 
There were no committee chairs assigned but many members volunteered to serve. 
They also discussed a possible fourth committee that would be the message for the Main Street program. 
On the Economic Vitality committee Catherine Knapp, Holly Wall, and Pat Rountree volunteered to serve. 
Holly Wall, Carla Surratt, Susan Sutton, Erin Wells, Jo Anna Duncan and Angie Mitchell volunteered to serve on the design committee. 
For the Organization Committee Erin Wells, Carla Surratt, Susan Sutton, Larry Love and Catherine Knapp volunteered to serve.
