Atlanta
On Jan. 6, Atlanta’s Lady Rabbits topped Pittsburg, 55-44.
The first half was almost even as Pittsburg took a, 21-20, lead at the break, but Atlanta outscored the Lady Pirates 35-23 in the second half to seal the win.
Sheveonia Smith put up 26 points, Teshuna Sheppard added 16 points with 11 boards, Brittany Collins had eight points, Kinsey Kelly put up three points and Keyona Easter posted two points with seven assists.

Queen City
On Jan. 6, Queen City’s Lady Bulldogs defeated Redwater, 49-36, in district action.
QC (12-6, 5-0) was down, 28-18, at halftime but a 31-18 run in the second half, which included a 14-1 run in the third quarter, wrapped up another Lady Bulldog victory. 
Jessica Jones poured in 21 points, Jacie Lance added 15 and CeCe Walker grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.
On Jan. 10, the Lady Bulldogs hosted Hooks.
The first half was competitive for the most part as QC took a, 28-18, lead into the break but a 35-14 run in the second half boosted QC to a, 63-32, thumping of the Lady Hornets.
Jessica Jones scored a team-high 22 points, Lance added 14, Madison Jones put up 10, Walker posted eight, Emily Maxwell three and the Lady Bulldogs received two-point contributions from Tiera Johnson, Kei Gamble and Colleen Kilgore.
On Jan. 13, Queen City traveled to DeKalb to finish out the first round of district play.
The Lady Bulldogs handed the Lady Bears a, 55-41, loss and boosted QC’s district record to (7-0).
Jessica Jones had 26 points with five treys, Lance scored 15 points, Madi Jones posted nine points, Johnson recorded three points, Maxwell put up two points and Walker pulled down 10 rebounds.
QC (14-6, 7-0) began the second round of district play last night against Hughes Springs, and going into that game the Lady Bulldogs were riding an 8-game winning streak.

McLeod
McLeod’s basketball teams have been on a roll from the junior high level to the high school level.
On Jan. 6, the varsity boys beat Linden-Kildare, 67-57, in district action.
J.R. Smith had 28 points to pace McLeod, Colby Smith added 14, Zach Prince put up 13, Blake Williams had eight points and Ryan Anderson posted four points.
On Jan. 10, the boys increased their season record to (20-2, 4-0) after a, 56-30, win over Maud.
J.R. had 21 points, Colby eight, Dagan Keener six, Prince five, Anderson five and Trevor Deel five.
Zach Mauldin scored a team-high 20 points in the JV’s, 27-24, loss to the Cardinals.
The Lady Longhorns won their game with Maud by a score of, 53-44.
Tessa Glenn scored 20 points, Shelby Davis 14, Selena Moon nine and Jillian Ellis six.
The junior varsity girls won 34-14 behind Makayla Fielder’s 16 points.
On Jan. 13, the varsity boys beat James Bowie, 63-40.
J.R. had 25 points, Colby 11, Blake Williams added nine, Deel had eight and Mac Calhoun four.
As of this article McLeod is (21-2, 5-0).
The varsity girls topped James Bowie, 59-29, which moved their record to (18-6, 6-1).
Glenn scored a team-high 19 points, Moon added 16, Davis poured in six points and the Lady Longhorns received four-point contributions from Fielder, Brooke Jester, Anna Parker and Emma Parker.
The McLeod seventh grade girls moved to (8-0) on the year after beating Detroit, 27-7.
Amanda Bertrand scored 10 points and Peyton Taylor added seven.
The seventh grade boys (7-1) suffered their first loss, 21-18, to Detroit.
Williams, Courtney and Spears each contributed four points.
The eighth grade girls (8-0) beat Detroit, 33-6.
Jillian Parker had 10 points, Sibbie Comer six and Olivia Darracott six.
The eighth grade boys (8-0) routed Detroit, 36-11.
Nathan Parker poured in eight points, Nos Gryder six and Dustin Gilmore four.
