McLeod
McLeod edged district foe Detroit on Dec. 30, by a final of, 47-45. 
The Longhorns jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one quarter of play and took a 26-19 lead into the half.
A 14-7 run by Detroit evened the score at 33-all after three quarters, but McLeod outlasted the Eagles 14-12 in the final frame to take the nail-biter.
J.R. Smith scored a game-high 23 points and Colby Smith added 16. 
On Jan. 3, the Longhorns (18-2) opened the new year with a, 70-35, thumping of Rivercrest. 
J.R. Smith put up 18 points, Blake Williams scored 15 and Colby Smith posted 14.
The Lady Longhorns (15-6) topped Rivercrest, 49-40, in district action.
Shelby Davis dropped seven treys en route to a 23-point performance and teammate Tessa Glenn added 13 points.
McLeod’s junior varsity girls beat Rivercrest, 31-23, behind Brook Jester’s 10-point display.

Queen City
Queen City’s Lady Bulldogs ended the year on a little winning streak and opened the new year with a big
Win over a district opponent.
On Dec. 13, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Hughes Springs, 35-29, in their first district contest.
Jacie Lance had a team-high 15 points, Jessica Jones added nine, Tierra Johnson posted five and CeCe Walker scored four.
On Dec. 16, QC boosted their district record to 2-0 after routing Daingerfield, 55-27.
Lance poured in 16 points, Jones added 12 and Walker recorded nine. Walker also led the team with 10 rebounds.
On Dec. 19, Queen City bested Pewitt, 46-30. Pewitt began the game with a 15-14 first quarter lead, but the Lady Bulldogs finished strong to complete the 16-point victory.
Jones scored a game-high 25 points, Lance added 13 and Walker put up five points.
The Lady Bulldogs registered a, 51-40, win over Avinger on Dec. 28.
In the game against Avinger the Lady Bulldogs rolled out to a 30-17 halftime lead which helped since the Lady Indians played the second half basket-for-basket.
Lance put up 25 points and Jones added 20 for QC.
On Jan. 3, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to New Boston for a matchup of two 3-0 teams.
The game was a back-and-forth affair. 
New Boston ended the first quarter up 14-11, but a second quarter run of 20-15 by QC set the score at 31-29 at the break.
The Lady Lions outscored QC 15-14 in the third quarter to pull within one point, but a 15-12 advantage in the fourth quarter iced the game for QC.
Jones recorded 31 points with 10 points coming from the charity stripe in a 10-of-11 performance, and Lance added 18 points of her own.
