Atlanta
On Dec. 12, Atlanta topped Kilgore with a 51-44 win over the Lady Bulldogs. Brittany Collins posted a team-high 20 points, Sheveonia Smith recorded 14, Keyona Easter added nine and both Kaydee Kelly and Kinsey Kelly had three points.
On Dec. 16, the Lady Rabbits ran into a good Gilmer team as the Lady Buckeyes rolled to a 72-42 win. Keyona Easter had 13 points and teammate Sheveonia Smith added 12.

McLeod
McLeod’s varsity boys ran their season record to 16-2 before district play gets started.
On Dec. 13, the Longhorns beat Harleton, 59-43, with J.R. Smith putting in 25 points followed by Colby Smith with 13 and Zach Prince with eight.
Shortly after on Dec. 19, the ’Horns outlasted a comeback bid by Union Grove but ended up with the, 65-69, win.
J.R. posted 22 points, Colby 19, Prince 11 and Dagan Keener eight.
The junior varsity squad lost to Harleton, 38-22, and lost to Union Grove, 33-29.
Against Harleton Zack Mauldin put up 17 points and against Union Grove he put in 15 points with Isaac McKnight adding six points of his own.
McLeod’s junior varsity basketball team also lost to Alba-Golden by a score of 63-37. Trevor Deel and Zach Mauldin combined for 30 points with Deel scoring 16 and Mauldin 14 in the loss.

McLeod Jr. High
On Dec. 19, McLeod’s seventh and eighth grade girls’ and boys’ team battled James Bowie.
The seventh grade girls’ steamrolled the Lady Pirates, 44-4, with Gracie Lance pouring in 28 points and Peyton Taylor adding 10.
The eighth grade girls won, 18-11, with Kaitlyn Cross scoring six and Sibbie Comer posting five points.
The seventh grade boys won as well with a score of, 15-8. Braden Parker scored five points while teammates Tyler Williams and Dillon Spears put in four points apiece.
The eighth grade boys completed the sweep of James Bowie with a, 36-18, victory.
Casey Smith and Joe Garsee tallied nine points apiece and Nathan Parker added eight.

Queen City
The M.U.M.S. Lady Bulldogs hosted the Hooks Lady Hornets in the last district game of the 2016 year on Dec. 12.  
When all games were complete the Lady Bulldogs’ program had completed a clean sweep of Hooks.
The night began with both the seventh and eighth grade B teams winning 32-8 and 16-2, respectively.  
The seventh grade Lady ’Dogs defeated Hooks 32-22, leading the way on the scoreboard was Destinee Wells with 12 points. Nyla Harrison and Chyna Stiger finished the game with eight points apiece.  
The eighth grade Lady ’Dogs demolished the Lady Hornets 22-8. The leading scorer for the eighth grade was Hannah Fitts who finished with 11 points. The eighth grade was in serious foul trouble during first half of the ball game but refocused and played a clean second half and pulled out the win.
“I am very proud of how this seventh grade group is improving, many of these girls are going to be great asset to our high school program in the next couple years,” Coach Bekkah Crisp said.
