Four Cass County teams took part in the McLeod basketball tournament last week, and when all games were wrapped up McLeod was crowned tourney champions after topping Queen City, 49-42, in the championship match.
Host McLeod, Atlanta, Avery, and Queen City each won two games last Thursday in pool play.
Queen City beat Maud handily, 58-27, with Tyler Adcock, Dexter Burrow and Tyler Nolan leading the way with nine points apiece.
The Bulldogs topped Saltillo, 65-57, after being down, 32-24, at the break. Dylan Scott scored 12 for QC and teammate Colton Davis added 10.
Atlanta beat Bloomburg, 66-21, and then rolled over DeKalb, 65-37.
Atlanta was up 18-7 after the first quarter and extended its lead to 36-12 at the break.
Desmond Robinson led the Rabbs with 15 points with Curtis Smith adding 13 and Quenton Rowe pouring in 11.
Brett Crumpler and Jordan Clayton had six each for Bloomburg.
McLeod defeated DeKalb, 54-34, and Bloomburg, 43-33, to set up a No. 1 seed game from Pool A against the Rabbs.
Queen City met Avery in a No. 1 seed contest for supremacy in Pool B.
On Friday Queen City beat Avery 43-37 to claim the top spot in Pool B and McLeod edged Atlanta 39-34.
After the lower seeded teams played McLeod was paired with Maud, DeKalb with Avery, Queen City with Bloomburg and Atlanta with Saltillo.
It was fitting that the top four teams met in the Final 4 as McLeod was pitted against Avery and Queen City against longtime rival QC.
McLeod and QC both pulled out wins before the Longhorns edged Queen City for the championship.
