Christmas events highlight weekend

From Staff Reports

Christmas is in the air this weekend with two big events in Atlanta.
On Friday, CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta and Genesis PrimeCare Ellington Memorial Clinic will hold their “All is Bright” Christmas Lighting Celebration at 6 p.m. at the front entrance of the hospital. The hospital is located at 1007 S. William St.
An annual event, the Christmas Lighting will feature music by First Baptist Church Queen City Kingdom Kids Choir, the Biblical Christmas story, lighting of the campus, the arrival of Santa Claus and his elves with the Atlanta Fire Department, and refreshments.
“We are happy to be able to present this community event for the fourth year and hope area residents will join us for a festive celebration and evening of fellowship as part of this holy holiday season,” said Thomas McKinney, CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta administrator.
On Saturday, the annual Atlanta Christmas Parade will be held in downtown at 6:30 p.m.
The theme for this year’s parade is a “North Pole” setting, which could include a variation of props and costumes such as elves and snow.
Santa will make an appearance in the parade but he will not be available for a photo session afterwards.
In addition to lighted floats, area high school bands will take part in the parade.
