McLeod cross country programs headed to state

McLeod’s cross country program has been near the top of the heap all season long, and both the varsity boys’ and girls’ teams sealed state reservations last Saturday at the UIL 2A Region 2 Cross Country Meet in Arlington.
The boys finished second overall with senior Zach Mauldin placing seventh overall at 18:49.75; freshman Ronald Bushong finishing 14th overall at 19:13.78; senior Ryan Anderson finishing 16th overall at 19:22.35; junior Zach Prince finishing 17th at 19:23.96; freshman Jaden McGray finishing 34th at 20:07.42; sophomore Ricky Hodges placing 40th at 20:20.26 and senior J.R. Smith placing 92nd at 23.:33.18.
The varsity girls also finished second overall with freshman Caitlin Hall placing fourth overall at 12:35.26; junior Makayla Fielder placing 12th at 13:04.54; sophomore Faith Crocker 28th at 13:39.56; junior Jillian Ellis 33rd at 13:48.42; sophomore Tessa Glenn 50th at 14:22.23; sophomore Haley Burden 84th at 15:11.63 and junior Brook Jester placed 100th at 15:32.87.
Head Coach Spud Adams will carry the 14 state finalists to the state meet in Round Rock on Saturday, Nov. 12, where they will look to bring home both team state medals and individual state medals.
