Wells named L-K CISD Home Town Hero
From Staff Reports
LINDEN-- Each quarter the Linden-Kildare CISD Board of Trustees recognizes an individual in the community who through his or her work has had a positive impact on our community.
The most recent Home Town Hero selection is Larry Wells.
Wells married his high school sweetheart Linda. They have been married 47 years. They have two sons, Kyle and Kerry Wells, who are both graduates of L-K CISD. They have five grandchildren who also all attend L-K.
Larry served his country, attaining the rank of captain in the US Army. After his service in the military, he attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with an engineering degree in 1970.
The Wells came to Linden in 1979 after Larrry began working at Lone Star Steel in 1977. He worked there until 1988.
At that time Larry started Reliant NDT, which provided nondestructive testing systems and services to companies not only in the US but overseas as well.
Larry was owner and president of Reliant until 2013 when he sold the company to LaSalle Capital of Chicago. However, he still remains as the president of the company.
He is past president of the L-K CISD School Board, serving six years. He has also served as the president of the Northeast Texas School Boards Association, is a former president of the L-K Quarterback Club and has served as the president of the Linden Youth Baseball Association
He currently serves as the president of the Linden Economic Development Corporation, is a member of the L-K Scholarship Committee, and is the vice president of the Bowie-Cass Electric Co-Op Board of Directors.
He is a long-time member of First Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer.
“Mr. Wells is a tremendous supporter of L-KCISD and of the Linden-Kildare Community,” District Superintendent Trevor Rogers said. “We are thankful for all that he continues to do to have a positive impact. We are honored to call him our Home Town Hero.”
