High School VB
In volleyball action Queen City swept Hooks in three sets, 25-18, 25-23, 25-13. Mackenzie Hozdic had 11 kills and three, Jessica Jones 10 kills and four blocks, Maci Stringer added 31 assists and Cori Lang posted eight digs.
In the junior varsity one match QC rolled, 25-13 and 25-15. Kailee Stringer had 15 points and
Payton Beckham 14 assists. In the junior varsity two match the Lady Bulldogs won, 25-21, 28-26, behind Kaci Thomas’ nine points.
The Lady Bulldogs later battled Redwater in a tough matchup.
The contest went back-and-forth with scores of, 25-15, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, before QC put them away with a, 16-14, win in set five. Jacie Lance had 12 kills and 21 digs, and teammate Maci Stringer recorded 29 assists.
Against DeKalb both the varsity and junior varsity netted wins.
In the varsity match QC won, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13. Stringer had 15 assists and four aces, and Lang added nine digs.
The JV score was, 25-12, 25-14. Beckham had eight assists and four aces, and Ciara Walker had four kills and two blocks.
Jr. High VB
The M.U.M.S. Lady Bulldogs traveled to Marshall recently to compete in the ETBU Invitational Tournament.
The seventh grade beatMarshall and moved into the championship bracket where they lost to Texas Middle School.
The seventh grade ultimately beat Elysian Fields in the third place game. The top server was Jade Whitehorn with 34 service points.
The eighth grade beat Jefferson in their first match and overpowered Union Grove before a championship game loss against Elysian Fields.
The leading server for the tournament was Claire Bates with 30 service points.
The seventh grade lost their first district match to DeKalb, but the eighth grade won.
Against Redlick the seventh grade lost in two sets. The top server was Kayda Duck with 10 points.
In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Redlick eighth grade team won the first set, but QC took the next two sets to seal the win.
The leading server for the night was Hannah Fitts with 15 service points.
