Tigers fall to Honey Grove. 18-14, in district opener

The Linden-Kildare Tigers fell to the Honey Grove Warriors in their district opener on Friday night by a score of 18-14.
“This was a tough loss,” Athletic Director - Head Football Coach Derek Simmons said.  “The kids played extremely hard, but we just couldn’t come up with the big plays when we needed them.”
Defensively the Tigers would hold the Warriors to 130 yards rushing and 82 yards in the air making this the fewest yards that L-K has allowed this season. But, on the other hand, the Tigers would struggle offensively only picking up a total of 200 yards for themselves.
On defense, Ja’Kevian Rose walked away with 21 tackles, LaDavian Johnson with 14 and Nick Kunze would add 10 more to his season total. Konner Durham helped the Tigers on defense as well with an interception and a fumble recovery.  
Joseph Wright also grabbed himself a Honey Grove fumble.
On offense, Marty Johnson was 8-for-14 on passing attempts with 60 total yards in the air. 
Cortez Peterson would have 26 of those yards, Rose 14 (326 for the season), Caleb Cunningham 11 and Marcus Jones would have nine.
On the ground, the Tigers would pick up their additional 140 yards with Jones scrambling for 67 of those giving himself 693 on the season. 
Jones would also score for the Tigers giving him 12 TD’s for the season.  Johnson would gain 49 total yards, Micah Harrison with 14 and Rose with an additional 10 yards and one of L-K’s two TD’s.
Thursday night the Junior High and Junior Varsity Tigers took on Honey Grove at home.  
The eighth grade would win their first district game with a score of 28-0. Chase Bynum would have one touchdown on the night and one interception.  
Karson Bynum would add two TD’s to the scoreboard and Mason Johnson would complete a 54-yard pass to Justin Dunlap for another Tiger TD. 
The Junior Varsity would also win this first district game with a score of 14-8. “Red” Tyson would score on a 15-yard run for the Tigers and Deuce Schuler would add two. Schuler would also score the game winning touchdown as time expired in the JV game.
L-K will face off with the Rivercrest Rebels this Friday night with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. at Jack Hetherington-Tiger Stadium. 
Rivercrest comes into this second district game with a record of 6-0.
