Local businesses support Foster Services with golf scramble
Local businesses recently sponsored a two man scramble golf tournament in Atlanta at Indian Hills Country Club.
The Second Annual Love 4 Kids Golf Tournament raised funds for A World for Children. AWFC is a local, non-profit agency providing foster homes to the many children in our area needing substitute care.
An AWFC family is provided the state reimbursement rate but the agency wants their families to give children all the benefits a child should experience.
They make it possible for the families to take summer vacation, attend lavish Christmas parties, have back to school supplies and clothing, and teens to attend a summer camp- all expenses paid by the agency.
A World for Children is providing foster children with as much attention to their therapeutic, emotional, physical, and medical needs as possible to help ensure the placement in their homes is successful, safe, normal, and as healthy as possible for our children. The fact of increased child abuse in our state is staggering and the best prevention is to break the cycle. Children that enter the foster care system need special individuals to care for their needs that have been trained regarding trauma and behavior intervention. A World for Children strives to find those that have met the calling to help children in need and equip them with the tools to make a difference. Foster care in the state of Texas is undergoing many needed changes that could improve upon a system that is far behind other states in its ability to help the growing problem of child abuse.
A World for Children is at the forefront of agency change and adaptation; volunteering for programs that will enhance the foster care system. The agency was supported during this fundraiser by many local businesses that gave happily to help fund programs that will improve the lives of local children in foster care.
