The Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce is planning to light up the town once again with its annual 5K Glow Run on Saturday. This year’s event is setting up to be one of the biggest yet, especially with sponsors like CHRISTUS St. Michael and Signa Health Spring helping out.
"I think that this year is going to be yet," said Chamber President Miranda Johnson. "It's going to be a lot of fun."
If you plan to fully participate in the Glow Run by covering yourself in the loudest of colors, come to the Glow Paint Party Zone, sponsored by HealthCare Express, at 7:30 p.m. on Hiram Street, where you will have 30 minutes to make yourself stand out as much as possible for the 5K run/walk, which scheduled from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.
The starting line will be located on Hiram Street, just west of Haw Creek. Trophies will be presented to first through third-place finishers in both the male and female categories, with another trophy being presented to the winner of the Spirit Award. Prizes will also be awarded to the winners, some of which will be shirts and running shoes provided by Racquet & Jog.
Throughout the night, DJ Aaron Whitehead will be pumping out music at the Glow Paint Party Zone for all of those who want to dance and keep the fun going.
There will also be a Kids Zone organized by Flip n’ Cheer, which will be located near the paint area. At the Kids Zone, children of all ages will be able to get their faces painted, purchase light-up swords, and take a ride on the returning Kid Train. While they are having fun, the Kids Zone will also have hot dogs and popcorn available.
Runners can still register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/Atlanta/letsGLOWforarun through Thursday and at the chamber on Friday, as well as a registration table on Saturday prior to the race. The entry fee is $30.
