Tigers best Bulldogs, 66-48, in Cass County Clash

Linden-Kildare made the short trip to Queen City Friday night with one thing on its minds The Hammer.
However, it didn’t take long to realize that QC also had this prize in mind when they stepped onto the field for the third installment of the Cass County Clash.
The game would be a close one until late in the fourth quarter when the Tigers took the lead and laid their claim to the Hammer with a 66-48 win over the Bulldogs.
“Having the hammer in our hands feels good,” Athletic Director/ Head Football Coach Derek Simmons said. “It means we accomplished what we set out to do and that was to play better in all phases of the game.”
L-K would finish the game with 480 yards total offense. Those adding to the Tigers’ offense would be Marcus Jones with 13 carries, 185 yards and five touchdowns, Micah Harrison with nine for 120 yards and also added a Tiger TD.
Ja’Kevian Rose would also help the Tigers on the ground with eight carries for 44 yards, along with Marty Johnson who would also rush for 44 yards on eight carries; giving L-K 366 total rushing yards.
In the air, the Tigers would come away with 114 yards. Cortez Peterson had three receptions for 45 yards, Rose had two for 33 yards, Marty Johnson had one for 16 yards and Jones would take his one reception 20 yards for a TD giving him a total of six TDs on the night.
L-K would run two kick-offs back for TDs. LaDavian Johnson returned his for 52 yards and Rose would score after his 90-yard return.
On defense, the Tigers would cause two interceptions: LaDavian Johnson with a 65-yard carry and Traccer Henry for a 20-yard gain.
Topping the Tigers in total tackles would be Rose with 12, Ty Patterson with 11, LaDavian Johnson with 10, Joseph Wright with nine, Henry with seven, and Draylon Delese with six.
L-K will play the DeKalb Bears this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Jack Hetherington – Tiger Stadium.
DeKalb will come into this game with a record of 2-1.
