Lions Club hosts scholarship golf tournament

Joel Steger and AHS senior Kaylea Moro won closest to the pin and longest drive, respectively.

The Atlanta Lions Club held their annual scholarship golf tournament at Indian Hills Country Club on Sept. 10.
With great weather and tremendous support from more than 50 sponsors, the nine teams battled it for top honors. The first-place team from Family Eye Care made up of Dr. Randy Cox, Steve Ware, Scott Gibson and Doug Rutland carded a 58.
The second and third place teams both shot a 60, with the team from Bowie-Cass Electric Co-op winning in a scorecard playoff over the team from Indian Hills Country Club.
The Bowie-Cass team consisted of Mark Boyd, Tod Corbin, Will Burris and Brad Anderson. The Indian Hills team was made up of Tommy Brown, Cody Griffin, Lonnie Griffin and Ronnie Hailey.
The Atlanta Lions Club President, Joel Steger, won the closest to the pin, with a shot that barely missed being a hole-in-one, by just a mere 5 inches.
The longest drive of the day was an incredible drive by Atlanta High School senior Kaylea Moro. The lunch that followed was catered by JP Denson from Come and Take It Cafe.
Jeff Peace organized the successful event.
