The Linden-Kildare Tigers rolled past Clarksville Friday night at Jack Hetherington-Tiger Stadium. The home game started with some tailgating fun and ended with an L-K victory as the hometown Tigers beat the visiting Tigers 59-20.
“The first win is always important,” Athletic Director and head football coach, Derek Simmons said, “but it made it even more special that we got it in front of the home crowd.”
L-K would take full advantage of playing on their own turf by racking up 489 total yards of offense, 354 of those yards would be on the ground and 135 in the air.
Senior Marcus Jones (8) rushed for 184 yards and added three touchdowns to the scoreboard for his team.  This gives Jones 242 total rushing yards and four TDs through two games.
Other Tiger scorers included Micah Harrison (1) with two touchdowns, Ja’Kevian Rose (3) with one and Marty Johnson (7) with one.
Sophomore Ty Patterson (13) led the Tigers on defense for the second week in a row with 13 tackles giving him 26 to date. Patterson would also come up with a fumble recovery.
Also on defense, juniors Traccer Henry (23) and Ja’Kevian Rose (3) would steal the night with an interception each. Rose took his INT 90 yards for a TD.
On special teams, freshman LaDavian Johnson (2) returned a kickoff for 65 yards and six points giving the Tigers their final touchdown of the night and the 39-point victory.
The Tigers will face their Cass County rival this Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Queen City at Smith-Wall Stadium.
*Of special note against Harleton last week for the L-K junior varsity, Trey Schuler had a good first half running and throwing the ball, and Red Tyson did a good catching most of Trey’s throws.
