Avinger teachers and daughter charged with burglary of home
From Staff Reports
Two Cass County teachers and their 17-year-old daughter were arrested last week for the burglary of a Marion County residence.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Tim K. Davis, his wife 37-year-old Amber E. Davis, both Avinger Independent School District teachers and the couple’s daughter, 17-year-old Drew Davis, were all charged with burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.
According to published reports, the Davises allegedly stole numerous items from a home north of Jefferson that is owned by Patti Ann Henderson, the widow of Bugs Henderson, a successful musician who died in 2012.
When police search the suspects’ home, they reportedly recovered many of the stolen items.
Tim Davis, who is also a coach and Amber Davis were in their first year as teachers at Avinger. Their daughter was a student at the school.
The parents were arrested at the school on Aug. 22. Their daughter was taken into custody on Aug. 23 at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Davis came to Avinger this past summer after Coach Treston Dowell left for another school district.
Dowell led the Indians to a 1A State Basketball championship with a 50-36 win over Grady in May.
The case remains under investigation and authorities say more arrests are possible.
