Atlanta’s Fourth Annual 5k Glow Run promises to be a  great event for runners and fun seekers to shine.
Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce President Miranda Johnson is hoping the “glow is on the grow” with this year’s run/walk exceeding previous years. Last year, the Glow Run drew more than 300 participants, with runners from as far away as Dallas and Little Rock entering the race.
This year’s race is Saturday, Oct. 1, with the race starting at 8 p.m. in downtown Atlanta.
“We want to grow it,” Johnson said. “It’s grown each year.
One of the big draws for the race is that it take place at night.
“It’s unique, and it’s a lot of fun for everyone,” Johnson said. “Even for supporters who don’t run or walk, it’s fun. It’s a big party.”
Early-bird registration is now open. It’s $25 per person plus a $2.50 signup fee. The prices increases to $30, starting Sept. 1, and increases again to $35 on the day of the race.  In order to be guaranteed a free race t-shirt, participants are encouraged to pre-register. To sign up, visit, https://runsignup.com/Race/Events/TX/Atlanta/letsGLOWforarun. Updates can be found on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
Johnson said the event will include food vendors and activities related to the event’s theme including a UV Paint Zone and Kids Glow Zone.
“We try to change it up a bit each year,” Johnson said. “But the main thing is everyone comes out and has a good time.”
Prizes are awarded to the top three men and top three women finishers.
