LINDEN-- Community Services of Northeast Texas (CSNT) and the Salvation Army are looking for partners to help provide fans to Cass County residents.
Fan distribution will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 8, at the CSNT office located at 304 E. Houston St., in Linden.
The fans are distributed by appointment only and appointments are only on July 8 and there will be a limit of one fan per household.
Julie Kolacki, Cass County Case Manager and Administrator for the Salvation Army for Cass County, says she has been working on getting a fan drive going for years.
“I have been here since 2009 and I’ve been working at getting a fan drive going since then,” Kolacki said. “June has proven to be hot already and we want to provide fans for relief as soon as possible.”
To receive a fan applicants must bring a photo ID for everyone over the age of 18, social security cards for everyone in the home, current proof of income for everyone in the home, and a current SNAP benefit letter (if applicable).
All documentation will be required for a fan to be received.
CSNT assists with low income households and their heating and cooling bills and provides assistance towards self-sufficiency.
CSNT also administers the Salvation Army funds for Cass County. The company is looking for help with the fan drive because the Salvation Army funds are not enough to make the program successful.
If you are interested in helping, tax deductible financial donations can be made by mailing a check or money order to Cass County Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1295, Linden, Texas 75563.
Along with her CSNT job, Kolacki says the Salvation Army post is strictly volunteer work.
“We work with donations so the Salvation Army admin job is on a volunteer basis,” Kolacki remarked. “We are hoping to have a very successful fan drive and want to start thinking about our Christmas bell ringers.”
The Christmas money collected stays in Cass County and Kolacki said that she needs several volunteers for positions set up all over the county.
“We try to get high school students to get involved as well,” Kolacki mentioned. “Last year Hughes Springs’ high school students assisted us in helping secure donations here in our county.”
For a fan appointment please call 903-756-5596, extension 22 to speak with Holly.
For Christmas help and other questions contact Kolacki at 903-756-5596, extension 24.
