Master Gardeners host “Walk In The Garden” May 14

The Cass County Master Gardeners will hold their second annual “Walk in The Garden” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at the Whippoorwill Gardens, 5024 FM 2328 in Atlanta.
This is a public event open to anyone interested in gardening. This year’s seminar will consist of four interactive classes, lunch provided on the grounds, a plant sale and door prizes.
The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration. Kay Lowery will lead the first class at 9 a.m. “Hands-on, Make and Take Propagation.” Learn how to propagate plants and take home your creations. All participants will take home a propagating pot set up with several plant cuttings.
Larry Brown will discuss “Garden Rooms” creating unique spaces in your backyard at 10:45 a.m. Followed by “Rain Harvesting and Drip Irrigation” at 11 a.m. Brown will share simple ways to get water from your roof to a rain barrel and using drip irrigation to conserve and deliver water under pressure to exactly where it is needed.
Aaron Harding will explain the basics of raising chickens in your backyard at noon with “Backyard Chickens.”
Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the seminar. Tickets are available for purchase at the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce, the Cass County Extension Office and from any Cass County Master Gardener.
