Atlanta man dies following accident Monday at Gilliam Road Raceway

Steven Smith, 60, of Atlanta was fatally injured March 28 in an accident at the Thunder Road Raceway Park in Gilliam.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Smith was directing traffic on the drag strip when he was struck by a car.
Smith was taken by LifeAir Rescue to University Health Hospital in Shreveport, where he was later pronounced dead.
Thunder Road Raceway is located approximately 35 miles southeast of Atlanta.
Smith is known in the local area as a local historian and for his love of racing and teaching of ham radio techniques.
