A Cass County woman suspected in the 2015 shooting death of a Marietta resident, has been indicted by the Cass County Grand Jury.
On Feb. 17 the Grand Jury indicted Wanda Jane Carmack on a charge of murder for the Sept. 10, 2015 death of Linda Lamb Gildon.
According to Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe, deputies responded to a call on CR 236 in Marietta around 1 p.m. on Sept. 10, in reference to a gunshot wound victim.
Gildon had suffered a single gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Carmack, who was the only other person at the residence at the time of the shooting was taken into custody by Cass County Sheriffs Office and Texas Rangers
Since Cass County is not certified to house female inmates, Carmack is currently being held at the Harrison County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
According to Cass County District Attorney Randal Lee, the motive in this case stems from the two women’s rocky and often violent relationship.
Lee said Monday that there had been recent threats made by Carmack and that the alleged murderer had recently pulled a firearm on Guildon during an attempt to reunite with her.
Carmack allegedly threatened suicide in an attempt for sympathy as a way to lure the deceased back to the residence just before her death.
