Local businesses provide books for APS students

Through a generous donation by Quality Building, Texas Farm Bureau,
Hopkins Memorials, Sears, May’s Lone Star Flooring, Terri’s Treasures,
Spencer Orthodontics and Kids Dental Center, Kindergarten students at
Atlanta Primary School each received a book titled: The Little People’s
Guide to The Big World--Parent/Child Edition.
This book is a collection
of poems that encourage students in areas like visiting the doctor’s
office, stranger danger, good nutrition, good study habits and taking
care of pets.
“Reading aloud with a child is the single most important activity for
building the knowledge and skills they will eventually require for
learning to read. Today a reader, tomorrow a leader,” stated Principal
Donna Rice. “It is our goal at APS for every student to become a fluent
reader who loves books and loves to read. Children are made readers on
the laps of their parents.”
